Fried Pork Wontons

Fried Pork Wontons are my second favorite food right next to Sweet & Sour Chicken. This always works in my favor since I usually get both at the same time. This has been the best recipe I have tried so far. it is pretty labor intensive so don’t attempt these if you are in a hurry. The best part of this recipe is that it makes so many (around 40). This way you can take the extra and freeze them so next time your wonton craving hits pop them in the oven and enjoy in just minutes!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Ground Pork
  • 2 T. Ginger
  • 2 Cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 Green Onion Stalk (chopped)
  • 1 C. Mushrooms of your choice (I used button, shiitake might be better)
  • 1/4 C. Chopped Water Chestnuts
  • 2 T. Oyster Sauce
  • 2 T. Soy Sauce
  • 1 t. Cornstarch
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 C. Water
  • 40-50 Wonton Wrappers
  • Vegetable Oil (for frying)

Directions:

  1. Heat oil to about 350-400°F in a deep fryer.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and combine.
  3. Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each wrapper, (try to press meat thin to insure even cooking)
  4. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold in half to form a triangle
  5. Seal the wrapper shut by pressing down on the edges with a fork.
  6. Drop into the fryer until golden on both sides (about 40-60 seconds on each side.
  7. Remove from fryer and set an a paper towel to cool and absorb excess oil.
  8. Serve with Restaurant Style Sweet & Sour Sauce.
