Discovering the Twin Cities: Winner Winner MN Dinner

Over the past two weeks I have been talking about the best ways to spend your time in Minnesota during Super Bowl week. Brunch, exploring, lunch, enjoyment and now it’s time to wrap up this discovery series with the most important meal of my day, dinner. The Twin Cities has an amazing foodie scene and it really shines with the restaurants on this list!

Beautiful setting and delicious food makes Young Joni a local favorite. Fine dining in a warm and welcoming atmosphere brings a twist to some traditional dishes. The menu is wholly inspired by wood fired cooking, including sharable small plates and wood fired pizzas. Come for the food, fall in love with the space and stay for the secret back bar. Look for red light in the alley. When the red light is on, the back bar is open. Enjoy Minnesota inspired cocktails while lounging in this cozy intimate setting. While you are there make sure you step inside the photo booth making it a night you will never forget. www.youngjoni.com

Psycho Suzi’s & Betty Dangers

These two hip and happenin hot spots are a summer requirement with their amazing outdoor spaces, but never fear these sister restaurants bring the heat even in the dead of winter!

Psycho Suzi’s Motor Lounge is a tropical Tiki Bar with a Rockabilly vibe making it a little tropical oasis in the middle of the frozen north. Try some “Minnesota Sushi” or one of their many outrageous tiki drinks sure to get you fired up for some serious celebrating regardless of the occasion. www.psychosuzis.com

Just around the corner from Psycho Suzi’s is Betty Dangers, the Mexampton Country Club.  While The Golf is closed during the winter hours you can still enjoy The Danger, a vertically revolving patio or mechanical tree (aka a ferris wheel to out of towners). Grab a warm beverage and polar fleece blanket before you take a turn enjoying stunning views of the Northeast Arts District. A trip to Betty Dangers isn’t complete without some of their stellar tacos with their famous Yale pink prickly pear margarita to wash it all down. www.bettydangers.com

Mucci’s

Mucci’s has to be my favorite restaurant of the year. The chic intimate setting makes every meal feel special and once you bite into their Garlic Montanara there is no going back to regular garlic bread. I keep going back to Mucci’s to try more of their buzz worthy menu but I can’t bring myself to try anything other than their Bucatini, after one bite I couldn’t imagine life without this little bowl of hearty deliciousness. I can’t rave enough about the amazing service and fall out of your chair it’s so good food. www.muccisitalian.com

Who said the north couldn’t be known for its fried chicken? Revival is proof that good comfort food isn’t only found down south. With brisket, fried chicken and corn bread that keeps you breaking your New Year’s diet resolutions with no regrets it’s no wonder that most nights there is a wait around the corner to grab a table. www.revivalfriedchicken.com

Borough is constantly upping the culinary game in the twin cities with a chef inspired menu delivered with a modern beauty that is jaw dropping every time. I have never experienced such good services as when I visit borough, they have the most friendly and professional staff around and I would keep going back for that experience alone. Step downstairs to Parlour bar to see why they are said to have one of the best burgers in the Twin Cities while enjoying their gorgeous lounge seating and killer drink menu. boroughmpls.com

Channel your inner Gatsby or Daisy when you dine at the Commodore in St. Paul. This space has been around since the 1920’s and its stunning art deco interior is like something out of a flapper’s dreams. A favorite spot of the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda and many notable Chicago Mobsters. The commodore highlights its illustrious past while delivering a modern menu that will have any foodie drooling. Enjoy the glamour and elegance of a bygone era as you cozy up to their bar where prohibition is clearly a thing of the past. www.thecommodorebar.com

The Lexington is more than just a restaurant, it’s an institution. Originally opening in 1935 during the prohibition era operating as a speakeasy with hidden staircases behind the elite supper club. After a brief hiatus the Lexington is back and better than ever. Dine, drink and enjoy live music in this iconic St. Paul supper club. Make sure to go visit their rooftop ice bar as they feature celebrity bartenders during Super Bowl week. www.thelexmn.com
